£15 per month - all calls free??
On the surface, this offer looks great, but a little digging behind the surface reveals some rather less attractive aspects that it’s worth being aware of. BT’s marketing is awesome. But you may find the true value of the offer is not quite as good as it may appear.
We will match BT’s offer if it’s something you really find attractive, as long as we can apply the same terms and conditions!! We think you’ll prefer our rather less complicated approach to pricing, reporting and contracting!
Under the surface of BT’s offer
It’s a two year deal, and the charge has to be applied to every line on your site, regardless of whether they carry enough traffic to justify the increased line rental cost. For many people this removes any potential saving completely and makes the deal a non starter.
It’s only available for new business. If you are an existing BT user it may not available.
- You also have to take at least one other BT service to qualify for the offer (normally broadband).
- If you do not make at least one chargeable call, BT’s published (very high) call rates apply, complete with connection charges.
- You have a thirty day window to cease the agreement before the end of the initial two year period. Miss this, and you automatically end up in a further two year period. This isn’t flexible enough for most of the businesses we deal with.
- The “all free calls” has some restrictions dictated by a fair usage policy. As this policy is applied on a per line basis, the free element does not accumulate across different channels of ISDN30, ISDN2 or analogue lines.
- BT round up all calls to the nearest minute. Three hundred, twenty second calls (a typical duration to retrieve a voicemail call!) will actually count as three hundred minutes in your call plan or as additional calls if you are over your fair usage policy.
